Gran Premio de España Santander

Dates: Practice 1 & 2 – Friday, May 9th

Practice 3 and Qualifying – Saturday, May 10th

Race – Sunday, May 11th

The Circuit of Catalunya, located in Montmeló, just outside Barcelona in Spain, was built in 1991 to host the Spanish Grand Prix once again after it had been run lastly in 1975. It is now one of the main testing circuits for teams and drivers, and so, it is extremely familiar to them. This translates into very good setups for everyone, and very consistent laps, but also it means there are very few overtakings by the end of the race. With KERS, DRS and Pirelli tyres we could see a little more action than normal, and everyone would like to win the first race of the European part of the championship. Local hero Fernando Alonso was the first Spaniard to win at his home grand prix in 2006, and the grand stands will certainly be following him again.
